High-tech products made from steel, aluminium and magnesium
The Stolfig® Group focuses on lighweight constructions made from steel, aluminium and magnesium.
In the sector of developing new materials the company works together with famous universities and research facilities.
The synergy effect, which arise from that, is used by both sides and improved continuously.
The TU Freiberg, as well as the FH Aalen, the ARC Leichtmetallkompetenzzentrum, the Ranshofen GmbH and the Neue Materialien
Fürth GmbH are among the Stolfig® Group partners in research.
Self-developed, patented magnesium alloy
The Stolfig® Group uses a self-developed, patented magnesium alloy for its products with the brand name
MnE21.
This magnesium alloy is characterised by a high pressure, heat and corrosion resistance and it is processed with a method, especially developed for that.
New method for the serial production of magnesium sheets
The company has developed a new method for the serial production of magnesium sheets in order
to cut the current prototype prices for magnesium sheets dramatically.
Method description:
- Continuously preheated ingots are feeded in a bicameral melting furnace and effused endlessly.
- The melted mass is effused flat on a table with the wanted width.
- The fine microstructure of the melted mass remains nearly the same, because the casting temperature is suddenly minimized.
- The continuously effused strip, is then immediately reduced to the wanted size with two to three rolls.
- The generated sheet strip, similar to a coil, is with the equal heat immediately carried into the press with its heated tools.
- The punshing waste is again immediately carried into the melting furnace without cooling off. Therefore, only insignificant heat loss and no material loss results.
